Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park is an unforgettable experience that allows visitors to see these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.
Nyungwe National Park is home to over 1300 chimpanzees, the largest population of chimpanzees in East Africa. The park’s dense rainforest provides the perfect habitat for chimpanzees, and visitors have a good chance of seeing them on a trek.
Chimpanzee treks in Nyungwe National Park are led by experienced park guides who track the chimpanzees every day. The treks can last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on how far the chimpanzees have traveled.
Once the chimpanzees are found, visitors are allowed to observe them for up to one hour. During this time, visitors can see the chimpanzees interacting with each other, playing, grooming, and feeding.
Chimpanzee trekking is a strenuous activity, and visitors should be in good physical condition. Visitors should also wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and bring plenty of water and snacks.
